It’s true that the damage that the sun does to our hair isn’t as obvious as when our skin burns, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t taking its toll. 1. Make An Appointment with Your Hairdresser

Holiday hair protection is going to be much easier if your hair is in good condition before you go. Healthy hair and proper care are the best way to start your holiday. That is why you should visit your hairdresser and have the ends trimmed before your trip. This instantly freshens up your hair and makes sure it looks good to the end of your holiday and beyond. Try not to wash your hair everyday

Over-washing your hair with shampoo can leave it weak and brittle because you are stripping your hair of its natural oils. This leads to your scalp going into oil production overload trying to replenish the oil that was stripped away thanks to sulfates in shampoo. The good news is you can actually train your hair to be less greasy. As you extend the time between washes, your hair will gradually produce less and less oil as you are no longer stripping your strands of the natural and essential oils your scalp produces. Massage your scalp with Shampoo, & not Conditioner⁠

If you’ve ever had a professional shampoo at a salon, you know how much time they spend on your scalp. Scalp scrub is a key step in an effective shampoo. Most people rush through it, though. You’re supposed to scrub for 3 minutes. That’s the magic number: 3 minutes. No matter your hair length or hair type, the amount of time that you should be scrubbing your scalp with the pads of your fingers—not your nails—is 3 minutes. Three minutes seems like a really long time, so for those of you who can’t make it too the three-minute mark, just do your best. Focusing your initial shampooing efforts on the scalp helps remove dirt, sebum and build-up that collects there. Spending 30 seconds to a minute on your scalp scrub is like quickly running a mop over a dirty floor rather than scrubbing the surface of its grime.

Try rinsing your hair with cool temperature water for the final rinse

If you think that water temperature isn’t important, think again because it actually is. If you learn how to use water of different temperatures to your favour, then it may really benefit your hair. Hot water can make your hair easy to break and weaken the hair roots.

COLD WATER final rinse + It makes your hair shinier and saves you from frizz. Rinsing your hair with cold water helps with closing your cuticle after your hair is washed. Open cuticle is good while shampooing or conditioning your hair but after you’re done, you want to seal the cuticle, so that your hair doesn’t get damaged too easily. If you use cold water for your final rinse then there’s a much better chance that your hair will stay shiny, healthy and frizz-free for a longer period of time.
COLD WATER final rinse + It makes your scalp cleaner. Just like with closing the hair cuticle, cold water also shuts your pores. Both things are really similar actually – you want open pores when washing hair but closed pores after you’ve finished. It’s because closed pores are much less vulnerable than open ones. What it means is that by rinsing your hair with cold water you protect the scalp pores from things like dirt, grease and oil. If your pores are sealed then you are also much less likely to be suffering from hair shedding.
COLD WATER final rinse + It improves the blood circulation to your scalp. When you’re cold your blood moves faster and your capillaries widen to warm you up. That way your scalp and hair roots get all the valuable nutrients they need to stay healthy. Another thing to mention here is that poor blood circulation can contribute to causing hair loss. You don’t want that, do you?

When you blow dry your hair, put it on the cool setting & hold distance it away to protect hair

Most people dry hair as fast as possible, but there’s one tiny step you might be forgetting (that could change your hair dramatically). And that’s the cold-shot button.
