ACTIVATE YOUR CURLS
Elasti-Curl was created to take care of the needs of different types of curly and wavy hair. This line has been formulated to reactivate and elasticise the curl, protect the hair and keep it hydrated, thanks to phyto-oils capable of preserving the health and beauty of curly and wavy hair. No two curls are alike: each hair is a universe in itself, and the Elasti-Curl line has been designed to meet the need for hydration and nourishment of the most demanding curls.
CURLY HAIR: A WHOLE NEW UNIVERSE
No, this is not an exaggeration: it is truly a world unto itself, with blow-drying techniques and terminologies unknown to anyone who doesn’t have wavy or curly hair. There are many types of curly hair and this is why it can be difficult to understand how to best take care of your hair, obtaining well defined and soft locks.
What are the worst mistakes to avoid with curly hair?
Brushing your hair when dry, touching it constantly, drying it at high temperature and without using a diffuser… These are all things that could ruin curly hair, making it dry and frizzy. However, the worst mistake you can make is using “generic” products, which are not sufficiently moisturizing, because they are not formulated specifically for the care of curly hair. Hydration and nourishment are key words in treating curly hair and only a specific line, especially tested and formulated for this type of hair, can truly fulfill its needs.
BRIEF GUIDE TO CURLY HAIR TYPES
Not knowing the exact type of curly hair to treat, you run the risk of using the wrong products or following an incorrect routine: below is a brief guide to the types of curly and wavy hair you might meet. All types of hair can be classified with a simple alphanumeric index.
Let’s see how:
• type 1 – straight hair
• type 2 – wavy hair
• type 3 – curly hair in ringlets
• type 4 – “tight spiral” hair, typical of afro hair
Each number is accompanied by a letter, A, B or C: these letters indicate the pattern of curly hair, going from the more loose ones to the thickest.
LET’S START WITH CATEGORY 2 A/B/C:
This category includes hair that is slightly to very wavy. Even if you would not think so, it’s the most difficult hair to manage because it lacks volume and shape, and quickly loses definition.
• 2A: the hair is slightly wavy, lacking volume and definition.
• 2B: the waves are shorter and more defined. Thickness and quantity are normal.
• 2C: there are not only waves, but real curls that form here and there. Hair is often thick and abundant.
LET’S CONTINUE WITH CATEGORY 3 A/B/C:
This category includes curly hair with a wide and soft pattern.
• 3A: the curl is large and voluminous. Curls 3A are often well-defined and elastic, and appear shiny and soft.
• 3B: also called “spiral curls”, they are voluminous and tend to be rough and dense. They are usually well-defined and elastic but tend to frizz and become dull, if not treated properly.
• 3C: “corkscrew curls” are often very thick, prone to frizz and with a diameter that is variable but always very narrow. This type of curls has a lot of volume and must be hydrated to maintain the fluffy and elastic look that makes it so beautiful.
LAST IS CATEGORY 4 A/B/C:
Type 4 hair is called “coil”, due to its ever smaller curvature. This pattern is typical of afro hair. It is very porous hair, but also fragile and subject to easy breakage. The curls can vary, going from tight to very tight, becoming more and more defined according to the variation of the pattern:
• 4A: waves are extremely rolled up, with a visible S pattern.
• 4B: coils are tighter and less defined.
• 4C: coils are less defined and more concentrated.
FUNCTIONAL ACTIVES IN THE LINE
All the products of the ELASTI-CURL line are enriched with 3 oils of natural origin, selected for their nourishing and elasticising properties:
ORGANIC COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil is one of the most popular natural oils in hair care, especially for hair that needs extra hydration. Indeed, it is rich in saturated fats which perform a nourishing, softening, and repairing action on the hair. Coconut oil restores the right level of hydration to curly hair, bringing back shine and softness and counteracting frizziness.
CHIA SEED AND SACHA INCHI OIL
This blend of oils restores elasticity and shine to the hair thanks to the high concentration of tocopherol and fatty acids. The antioxidant properties of chia seed oil, in synergy with the nourishing action of sacha inchi oil, protect curly hair from external aggressions and help it retain water.
STEP 1: NOURISH & CLEAN
+ Organic Coconut Oil
+ Chia Seed and Sacha Inchi Oil
Specific shampoo to cleanse natural curly or permed hair with great care.
Its moisturising formula leaves the hair soft and light, enhancing its volume and shine without compromising
its texture.
HOW TO USE: take a small amount of product with a spatula, dissolve in your hands with a little water,
and massage on damp scalp and hair. Rinse.
IDEAL FOR: all types of curly hair, from category 2 to 4.
For category 4 hair, which tends to be more porous, an extra application may be required compared to
other types of hair.
STEP 2: ACTIVATE
+ Organic Coconut Oil
+ Chia Seed and Sacha Inchi Oil
Modeling cream with anti-frizz effect, for wavy and curly hair. Defines the texture of the curls leaving them soft, light and elastic even in case of intense humidity. Does not leave residue or weigh down hair.
HOW TO USE: apply to clean, damp hair lock by lock. Proceed with styling and drying. It can also be used after drying, to define details.
IDEAL FOR: all types of curly hair, from category 2 to 4.
STEP 3: DEFINE
+ Organic Coconut Oil
+ Chia Seed and Sacha Inchi Oil
Nourishing oil for curly hair. It makes the hair softer and shinier, helping to seal the hair cuticles.
HOW TO USE: distribute a few drops on the tips of dry hair after styling.
Alternatively, apply and massage on the lengths before shampooing, leaving it on for a few minutes.
IDEAL FOR: all types of curly hair, from category 2 to 4.
For type 4 hair, we recommend in particular the application before shampooing (pre-poo).
